Welcome to the official website of the Cuban author, Gerardo Chávez García.

Chávez García was born in San Antonio de los Baños, a town in the province of Havana on the Island of Cuba. He lived an idyllic life on the island until the age of 20 when the Republic of Cuba was replaced with the oppressive Cuban Communist Party. He emigrated to the United States thinking that his new home would only be temporary. He has now lived in the US for nearly 65 years and not a day has passed without feeling that deep yearning sensation of one day being able to return.

It's these deep feeling for his roots that has motivated him to write about his life as a young man in Cuba and his latest book, a historical account of his hometown San Antonio de los Baño. 

Currently, both books are only available in Spanish. An English version will be available shortly.

Chávez García nació en San Antonio de los Baños, un pueblo de la provincia de La Habana en la Isla de Cuba. Vivió una vida idílica en la isla hasta los 20 años, cuando la República de Cuba fue reemplazada por el opresivo Partido Comunista Cubano. Emigró a Estados Unidos pensando que su nuevo hogar sería sólo temporal. Ya lleva viviendo en los Estados Unidos casi 65 años y no ha pasado un día sin sentir esa profunda sensación de anhelo de poder regresar algún día.

Es este profundo sentimiento por sus raíces lo que lo ha motivado a escribir sobre su vida de joven en Cuba y su último libro, un relato histórico de su ciudad natal San Antonio de los Baño.

Actualmente, ambos libros sólo están disponibles en el idioma español. Próximamente estará disponible una versión en inglés.
